I understand that Elon Musk is not necessarily invovled with OpenAI anymore, thought initially I had made that connection ?

Also that alternative to ChatGPT-like technology already existed, just not so well marketed / hype ? This also happened when "Skype" came along, and was on the Radio, then "everywhere" ? I tried to tell people that "Microsoft Messenger" had already been providing the same (video-conferencing) for quite some time, but no-one listened ? "Hype" took over and won ?
